Galatasaray Sports Club has announced the official signing of Johan Elmander from Bolton Wanderers on Monday. Elmander has signed a contract valid until the end of 2013-2014 football season.
Born in 1981 the Swedish striker and central midfielder began his football career at Holmalund FC after which he was transferred to another Swedish club, Örgryte. In 2000 Elmander was signed by the Dutch Feyenoord but did not find much opportunity for playing there, instead he was put on loan to Djurgården in his home country and to NAC Breda in Netherlands.
In 2004 he was transferred to the Danish Brøndby. By the end of the 2004-2005 season, he was awarded the Player of the Year while his team won both the Danish league championship and the Danish cup.
After his high performance during the 2006 World Cup as a member of the Swedish team he was signed to the French club Toulouse for 4.5 million. Two years later Elmander signed with Bolton Wanderers with the highest amount in the history of the club.
