BARIŞ ÖZBEK

In the 2007-2008 season, when Galatasaray was reformed with Karl-Heinz Feldkamp, he was one of Galatasaray’s first transfers. He was playing for Germany’s Regional North League team Rot – Weiss Essen.

Having played in Germany’s U21 National Team for 12 times, Barış impressed managers with his speed and his press capability. These qualities of him served a great deal in his getting discovered and and becoming the cornerstone of Feldkamp’s system.

Having started football in BG Schwerin’s academy, Barış Özbek passed to Rot-Weiss Essen’s academy in 2005, after playing for Tus Hordel during 2003-2004. He was distinguished among all the Turkish living in Germany and played for the First Team for two years. He scored 1 goal in 39 matches. In the 2007-2008 season he joined Galatasaray with Serkan Çalık who was also playing in the same team.
