Cengiz: "Galatasaray love impossible missions"

Cengiz: "Galatasaray love impossible missions"

Our chairman Mustafa Cengiz gave his remarks about 2019-2020 Champions League draw, our group, three opponents and transfer policy of 2019 summer.

Here are Cengiz's comments to Galatasaray TV:

"I cannot know the impression taken from outside but from the inside I can say that: Today, the three hottest topics of the UEFA Champions League draw were Turkey, İstanbul and Galatasaray. I was proud how often we were mentioned both as a country and the club. We saw how Turkey and Galatasaray are valued in UEFA circles. Sports is an important vehicle and instrument to give lasting and positive impressions. I hope and wish that six or seven Turkish teams to represent our country in European competitions."

"Our opponents in Group A are teams that we played and beat before. And, of course, we also lost against them in the past. We matched against Real Madrid in the Super Cup in our history and won. It was a fair and honorable challenge. We also have unfinished business with Real Madrid. We were up 3-1 against them in Champions League knock-out round, our fourth goal was forfeited with the tip of an offside. That could have been a glorious night for Turkish football. Hopefully, we are going to get a better result against them this time and hopefully we are going to make the continent say our name and our country's name more often."

"Galatasaray loves impossible missions. Galatasaray is going to play good football against good and respectable football teams. Last year, they called our draw "sweet as sugar." This year's draw is as bitter as poison. However, Galatasaray hopefully is going to have the antidote to counter them."

"We made nine transfers until now and spent 1.5 million Euros for them. This is the official balance. We take our steps carefully because we have an agreement with UEFA. We made a promise to them. We have a contract with them. We are commited to both our promises and our contract. Both with our board and our club. We are trying to make our roster the best possible while following the regulations and abiding the conditions of our contract. For our fans, this is not enough. They want a better, fresher and more dynamic roster. As a fan, this also would be my wish. We are interested in a footballer from here, Monaco. We are trying everything in our power to bring him to our club. Our all board members are working to the best of their abilities and efforts. This is all I could say about the latest situation. I just want a little more patience, calm and trust from our fans."
