Galatasaray sign Mario Lemina!
An agreement has been reached with Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club regarding the transfer of professional football player Mario Rene Junior Lemina.
The Gabonese midfielder began his football career in Lorient's youth academy, which he joined at the age of 11. In the 2012-13 season, at the age of 19, he was promoted to the first team, marking the start of his professional career.
During his 14 appearances for Lorient, he emerged as one of the young talents of the French league, and ahead of the 2013-14 season, he transferred to Marseille for €4 million.
In his first season at Marseille, Lemina had limited playing opportunities, but during the 2014-15 season under Marcelo Bielsa, he managed to impress the renowned coach. The Gabonese talent played 25 matches that season and became one of the key figures in the team, which finished fourth in the league, gaining recognition across Europe.
As a result, at the start of the 2015-16 season, while on the radar of Premier League clubs, the Gabonese midfielder signed with Serie A giants Juventus. Initially, he joined on loan for €500,000, but in April 2016, Juventus secured his transfer permanently for €9.5 million.
During his time at Juventus in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, Lemina made 42 appearances. However, his journey in Italy came to an end following an offer from the Premier League, where he had attracted attention since the early days of his career.
In the summer of 2017, Southampton signed Lemina for a transfer fee of €17.25 million. Playing 49 matches during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, he added Premier League experience to his career, following his stints in Ligue 1 and Serie A.
Lemina played for Galatasaray in the 2019-2020 season, earning admiration from the fans with his dynamic playing style.
He later returned to the Premier League by joining Fulham, Nice, and Wolves. Most recently, with Wolverhampton, he played 17 Premier League matches, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists.
Lemina began his international career representing France in the youth categories and was part of the squad that won the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, held in Turkey. At the senior level, he chose to represent his birth country, Gabon, and since the summer of 2015, he has earned 32 caps and scored 3 goals for the national team.
